Month in Review: February

This is LONG overdue, but the shortness of the month underestimated me, so this post is going up in March. I am not one to stray from routine! Here's what happened in February:

What I Read:

Mockingjay by: Suzanne Collins: 4/5 stars
Divergent by: Veronica Roth: 4/5 stars
The Prisoner and the Chaplain by: Michelle Berry: 5/5 stars
Abeng by: Michelle Cliff: 3/5 stars

Favourite Book: I had to read The Prisoner and the Chaplain for my creative writing class, and the exciting thing is, I am going to interview the author! This is a fantastic crime novel from a great Canadian author.

What I Blogged:

I really enjoyed my compilation of Books for People Who Hate Reading. It was fun revisiting some old favourites!

Favourite Blog Posts:

Life Stuff:

February flew by! I had my reading week, so I got to go home from uni, which was really nice. I also started therapy, ended therapy, and now am starting up therapy again! It's a long story (sighs) but, I think I am finally starting to sort out my issues :)

I am really looking forward to this month because it is the last full month of the school year! Then I can relax, and hopefully have a great summer.

That was my February! How was yours?

  1. It's been a long time since I read Divergent, but I've re-read it like twice I believe.

    1. I’ve never re-read it until recently! I think I disliked it more this time around.

  3. Thank you so much for the shoutout, Em!
I hope therapy continues to work for you & that it helps you to sort things out!
Do you have plans on writing reviews for The Hunger Games & Divergent, like you did for Twilight? I've been enjoying so much reading them and looking back at these books with my 2019 mind. Divergent is one of my favorite books of all times, but I haven't re-read it in ages as well. Hopefully, I'll be able to re-read it this year. It will be nice to hear your thoughts on them!
Hope you have an amazing March! <3

  4. I haven't re-read Mockingjay or Divergent in a while. I liked them both well enough when I read them the first time, but I don't know how I'd feel about them the second time around.

    1. I disliked Divergent the second time around. It was just kinda ok.

  5. Yay for therapy! My therapist retired and I'm having to hunt a new one. Blah.
Mockingjay is the only one on that list I've read. I've heard bad things about Divergent and I'm kind of hesitant to read it.
Looks like February was still a decent month though.

    1. I wish you good luck on your search! I really liked Divergent when I first read it. Some might say I was obsessed with it. This time around was a re-read and I didn't love it as much as I have in the past, but it was still ok.

  6. I'm glad therapy is going well :) I went during January, and it definitely helped me.

I really want to re-read Divergent! I did not enjoy it the first time, but I feel like I would appreciate it more now.

    1. Thanks Amy! I’m the opposite. I loved it back then but I found I disliked it more this time.

  7. That's so cool that you got to interview the author of The Prisoner and the Chaplain! I read the blurb and sounds so excellent! Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on a copy :) I also keep meaning to reread all my old favorites that I read in the early 2010s, including Divergent, but I have this fear that I won't like them as much and it'll ruin the pedestal I've built them up with (which maybe is a good thing but that's an emotional journey I don't know I'll want to take). I hope you had a great March, Emily (because I'm literally a month behind everything...)!

    1. I hope you do get to read it, it was fabulous and the author was really lovely! I definitely think that re reading Divergent has ruined it for me. I definitely disliked it more this time around!
