Month in Review: July

There is only one month of summer left and I already know that it's gonna fly by :( Trying to savour the last bits of vacation as much as I can! Here's what happened in July:

What I Read:

Puddin' by: Julie Murphy: 3/5 stars
Maus by: Art Spiegelman: 5/5 stars
The Silver Star by: Jeannette Walls: 4/5 stars
The Dream Thieves by: Maggie Stiefvater: 4/5 stars
A Map for Wrecked Girls by: Jessica Taylor: 5/5 stars

Favourite book: Definitely the graphic novel, Maus. I hate to sound repetitive but hopefully I'll shut up about this book once my full review goes up this month. This novel was emotional, clever and beautifully drawn.

What I Blogged:

I finally did an update on My Goodreads Challenge! I've been doing really well and as far as reading challenges go this one has been the most enjoyable for me.

Life Stuff:

I went on a little impromptu vacation to Quebec City with my family this month! It was fun to get a break from work and to experience such a beautiful city. Seriously, this place is like a European town without actually going to Europe! I am the worst at pictures so I didn't take much, but if you ever get to experience this beautiful city, enjoy it!!

And that was pretty much my month! How was your July?

  1. Sounds like you had a fun vacation! I'll have to check out literally all the books you listed, Lol.

  2. Thanks sooo much for the link! :)

  3. Looks like a good reading month! Lots of 5 star reads. Yay!

Glad you had a fun time away - spontaneous trips are sometimes just what you need in the middle of life! Haha. Hope you enjoy the remainder of your vacation :)

    Have a lovely August,Emily.

    1. Thanks Amy! Hope you have a great August too :)

  4. I want to visit Quebec so badly! I've never been to Canada. I did visit Portland and Boston last week, though, and those are two of my favorite cities. I've had a busy July, I can't believe it's already over.

    1. I hope you get to visit Canada one day! There are so many beautiful aspects of this country, something for everyone! (Although maybe I’m a little biased lol) Hope your August is a lot more relaxing!

  6. I'm really happy to see that you loved A Map for Wrecked Girls - I've been looking forward to that one, but all the mixed reviews didn't really help me get truly excited for it. Congrats on doing well on your GR challenge! And wow, Quebec sounds like a beautiful place, I'm glad you had fun there.

Thank you for the shout out, and I can't wait to see you do the tag!

  7. Quebec City sounds fabulous! I know people who have visited Quebec and they loved it.

Ooh glad you liked A Map for Wrecked Girls. That was a fun read.

    1. It was a really cool read, especially for summer!

  8. Quebec city is on my bucket list. I've been to Montreal and love it there and hope to go to Quebec city next time we go to Canada. I heard it's mainly french speaking, is that correct?
Maus is one of my favorite graphic novels. Glad you found it great too.

    1. Pretty much every city in Quebec has French as their primary language, but I didn’t find the language barrier too bad! Hope you get to go soon!
