At first I was just, 'okay, I'm trying to see where you're coming from' but then after a few chapters I'm just, 'WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? YOU'RE JUST KILLING PEOPLE!!' and that just failed the book for me.. It's a pity it couldn't have been executed in a better way, but the story itself sounds really good- and yessss to diversity!! But yeah, some reviews I've read mention that it doesn't stay true to what teenagers are like - so I might give this one a pass. Of course, it is important, with how diverse the characters are, etc. but I don't know, I'm just worried about reading it, and not liking it very much, and being conflicted (because I feel like I should like it because it tries to tackle sensitive and important topics). Very well written review, Emily!! Particularly with a book like this, with such sensitive material :) Geraldine Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17649522199658888738noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1717251772632628978.post-33188575407484104572016-08-12T22:02:55.820-04:002016-08-12T22:02:55.820-04:00It is a very heavy and scary topic but yet it did ...It is a very heavy and scary topic but yet it did spark my curiosity. It's hard to compare accuracies when you're not (thank goodness) knowledgeable on the subject, but I think we know how teenagers think and that is not how they think.paperbackprincesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07446601964387517150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1717251772632628978.post-59406239184449189202016-08-12T19:19:22.318-04:002016-08-12T19:19:22.318-04:00This is a book that I'm very intrigued by. When I was younger, there was one case of a school shooting in my country and I was very scared the months after that. <br />I've never read anything surrounding school shooting, but I liked to know your opinion on it. The fact it has a lot of diversity makes me even happier! <br />Great post, Emily! :-DLaishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02487450872139325468noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1717251772632628978.post-19805630730056143302016-08-12T17:40:33.792-04:002016-08-12T17:40:33.792-04:00I read the book and I agree with you 100% It isn&#...I read the book and I agree with you 100% It isn't very accurate and true to what teens, especially American teens, would do in this situation. We're hardly all heros. I think the name of the school in this case was a metaphor for the situation, about stolen opportunities and stuff like that.paperbackprincesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07446601964387517150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1717251772632628978.post-26420995561835037442016-08-12T12:04:09.765-04:002016-08-12T12:04:09.765-04:00'Opportunity High School' - Really?! It can't be bad! *shifty glances*'<br /><br />Sorry, I had a lot of jingoistic crap at a near-to-failing school. I know what it sounds like. Suddenly your head of house becomes a 'learning manager' and your registration class is made up of 5 kids from each year group to create 'vertical learning.' (I have no idea what was supposed to be 'vertical' about it - I'm still short!) XDCee Arr @ Dora Readshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04074909561530525221noreply@blogger.com
